Air Asia's Taylor Swift Aircraft Arrives in Manila

AirAsia's Taylor Swift aircraft touched down at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on June 5 carrying the popular international star just in time for her Manila concert being held today at the Mall of Asia Arena. The concert is part of Swift's RED Tour and has been labelled as the most anticipated concert of the year.

The seven-time Grammy award winner will travelled on board AirAsia, the official airline of the RED Tour in Southeast Asia, as she travels to various cities in the region with her 80 member entourage. To commemorate the tour, AirAsia painted one of their 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft in a special Taylor Swift livery.

The exclusive aircraft livery was unveiled last week at the RED Hot Party held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. A creative team worked meticulously on the exclusive aircraft livery using a special paint to create Taylor's name and accompanying graphics.

According to Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia, the airline is excited to have the opportunity to work with one of the most popular international singers. "We are very excited because she's a very popular international star and for her to be associated with AirAsia is an extremely fortunate event for us," said Omar. "It is truly an honor for us to have her and to be able to fly her and her group in her tour around Southeast Asia. She represents the youth and like the brand, she reaches out to the masses as well. It's something that we feel is similar to who we are."

AirAsia says that it intends to keep the exclusive Taylor Swift aircraft livery for at least the next year. "She's very relevant to the world right now and I think a lot of people reach out and can relate to her," said Omar. "We will have it for a long time." Upon completion of the RED Tour, the aircraft will continue to service AirAsia routes covering 88 destinations in 22 countries. In the Philippines, AirAsia Malaysia flies to Cebu and Kalibo.

Five lucky Taylor Swift fans in Manila had the opportunity to tour Taylor Swift's official aircraft while it was parked at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 4. In addition to the Philippines, the A320 aircraft will travel to Jakarta, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur as part of the Red Tour. The concert in Bangkok had to be cancelled after the Thai military seized control of the government. At the concert to be held in Manila, Swift is expected to perform songs from her hit Red album.
