After observing a spike in museum visitation on national holidays and special occasions with free admission, the Museum's Board of Trustees decided to extend free admission on a permanent basis to capitalise on the rising interest from young Filipinos. The Board hopes that the decision will increase the museum's reach to a broader audience by making the National Museum of the Philippines more accessible than ever before.

In addition, to further build on the significant spikes of viewership, the National Museum will also allow entry to its other museums elsewhere in the country free of charge to both Filipino and foreign visitors. This will enable the Museum to reach a wider audience and encourage more people to visit, bringing the National Museum’s programs and resources to a larger audience not just within the capital region but also in other regions of the country.

In a post on the National Museum's Facebook Page, the Board reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to its mandate. "Enhancing universal access by all Filipinos to what we proudly exhibit as our national patrimony and heritage has always been a primary concern, and with this new policy we hope to reach more people than ever before, both by encouraging visits to our museums, and by bringing the National Museum's programs and resources to communities throughout the national capital and all the regions of our archipelago."

In addition to the National Museum, visitors may also visit the following sites completely free of charge: The National Art Gallery, the National Museum of Anthropology, the National Museum of Natural History. and the National Planetarium. Regional Museums can also be found in Palawan, Bohol, Butuan, Cebu, Marinduque, and Jolo.
