The first flight to the island group will take place on March 25.   The outbound flight will depart Manila at 6.20 am and the inbound flight will depart Batanes at 9.15.  Subsidiary Cebgo will operate the route once a day and the flight will use NAIA Terminal 4.

The addition of Basco comes as a result of a crowdsourcing campaign where the company asked netizens which destination should next be added to Cebu Pacific's network.  Basco emerged as the top choice.  Other popular contenders included Daet, Bantayan Island, San Vicente (Palawan), and Siquijor.

Cebgo President and CEO Alexander Lao remarks that "Our new flight to Basco is in keeping with our commitment to connect more of the Philippines and make air travel safe, affordable, reliable, and fun-filled for everyjuan. What makes this route more special is that netizens were actively engaged in the selection of our new destination—our customers were part of the process."

To mark the occasion, Cebu Pacific launched an introductory seat sale which lasted from February 12 to 13.  This would allow passengers to travel between Manila and Basco starting at ₱2,699 (approximately US$53, £37) for journeys between March 25 and May 31 2018, and ₱2,399 (approximately US$47, £33) if travel commences between June 1 and October 27 2018.  The year-round fare is priced at ₱4,241 (approximately US$83 or £59) one-way.

Batanes is at the northernmost part of the Philippines.  Given its latitude, it also boasts of being the only part of the country which experiences four seasons.  Popular attractions include the Basco Lighthouse, Marlboro Hills, Dipnaysupuan Japanese Tunnel, Mahatao Tayid Lighthouse, and St Dominic de Guzman Cathedral.

Currently, only two regional carriers have service to Basco: AirSWIFT and SkyJet.  Philippine Airlines, through its subsidiary PAL Express only serves Basco via Clark Airport.
