Tiger Airways Places order for 38 Airbus A320 Aircraft

Tiger Airways intends to distribute the aircraft to its subsidiaries in Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Of the 30 aircraft that are currently in the Tiger Airways fleet, 5 are operated by Philippine subsidiary, Southeast Asian Airlines to ten domestic destinations within the Philippines from its Manila hub and four international destinations from its hub at Clark Airport.

While it is unclear exactly how many of the 38 new aircraft are expected to enter the SEAir fleet, previous reports have suggested that the airline will be receiving 2-3 aircraft per year. In the next 5 years, SEAir CEO Olive Ramos stated that the airline would like to offer more international flights out of Clark, Cebu, and Mindanao. It would also like to open up more tourist and commuter routes to Naga, Bohol, Cagayan De Oro, Zamboanga, General Santos and Tawi Tawi.
For 2013, SEAir will be looking to launch an international flight to Phuket, Thailand and a domestic service to Legazpi. Legazpi will be in need of a new airline to fill the void left by Zest Air when it terminates Legazpi from its route network later this month. Beyond 2013, SEAir will be keeping its eye on new routes opportunities to Taiwan, Korea, and Japan.
