In a press release distributed this week, President & CEO of Seair, Olive Ramos, said that the company will begin operating as Tiger Airways Philippines with flights under the new name set to take off on July 10, 2013.

Ramos says that Tiger Airways is the leading airline and travel partner connecting people across Asia Pacific. It is a distinguished regional brand that differentiates itself in terms of safety and reliability. The network of Tiger Airways Philippines currently extends to Laoag, Bacolod, Kalibo, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, and Puerto Princesa domestically while service is offered to the international destinations of Singapore, Bangkok, and Hong Kong from the airline's hubs at Clark and Manila.

The first new route to be launched under the new brand will be Tiger Airways' new non-stop service from Singapore and Kalibo. The airline will be the only carrier flying this route. Tiger Airways Philippines is 40% owned by its parent, Tiger Airways of Singapore. The airline group also maintains holdings in Indonesia along with a presence in Australia. It will compete directly with Cebu Pacific and Zest Air who is slowly converting over to the Air Asia brand. Besides, Tiger Airways, Air Asia is the only other budget brand regionally recognized with bases in multiple Asian countries.

Tiger Airways Philippines currently operates a fleet of three Airbus A320 aircraft and two Airbus A319 aircraft. Its parent airline is going through a rebranding exercise of its own. The airline is planning to ditch its orange and black stripes along with the pouncing tiger from its aircraft livery and other marketing materials. A major announcement is expected in the coming weeks and it is likely the Tiger Airways Philippines will be part of that exercise to introduce a new look. It's not clear at this point whether new uniforms will be introduced as well or if Tiger Airways Philippines will be maintaining the "It's More Fun in the Philippines" logo.
