Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 7945 was scheduled to depart Dubai at 11:00pm on Monday but was cancelled as a result of the assigned aircraft requiring extended servicing to correct technical difficulties. Passengers informed ABS-CBN News in Dubai that no representatives of Cebu Pacific were available to attend to them on Monday night.

However, Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific VP of Marketing, said that the passengers were offered lounge accommodations and meals. She added that they were also entitled to obtain a full refund. Iyog apologized for any inconvenience caused by the delay but reaffirmed that safety remains the airline's primary priority.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific reported that passenger traffic in September grew by double digits although the number of seats per flight declined. In the first three quarters of 2013, the airline flew 10.9 million passengers representing an increase of 11.3 percent over 2012 figures. International passengers grew by 12.7 percent while domestic passengers increased by 11.3 percent respectively in the first nine months. But despite the increases in passenger traffic, Cebu Pacific's load factor dropped to 76.4 percent in September, a decrease from the load factor of 79.9 percent achieved in September of 2012. Load factor refers to the number of seats occupied per flight. Much of the decrease in load factor for September can be attributed to domestic flights where load factor dropped by 4.9 percent. However, overall load factor for the first three quarters of 2013 remains positive with a slight increase up to 83 percent from the load factor of 81.7 percent achieved last year. Cebu Pacific hopes to fly 15 million passengers in 2013, an increase from the 13.3 million flown in 2012.

  1. I was one of the passengers in that flight. I confirm that no representativer was never present. I was forced to return to my hotel instead of waiting 8 hours in the middle of the night. No accommodation not meals were ever offered! Cebu Pac are a bunch of LIARS. How could they offer accommodations when they weren't even available??
