PAL Express: Flights to Dubai Launched

PAL Express launched its first ever long-haul flight on Wednesday with direct service to Dubai. The new service will operate five times weekly departing from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2.

Philippine Airlines will be using the new service to compete directly with Cebu Pacific while also providing more options for overseas Filipino workers and foreign tourists to travel to the Philippines. "Our flights to and from Dubai will give our countrymen a direct, convenient link to their homeland, and allow them to experience the trademark Filipino service PAL is known for," said Ramon Ang, President of Philippine Airlines. "We guarantee that our kababayans, as well as tourists and business people from Dubai travelling to the Philippines, will truly feel special on our flights".

Flights depart Manila every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 1:00pm arriving in Dubai at 6:15pm local time. The return flight departs Dubai on the same day at 7:45pm arriving in Manila at 8:15am on the following day. Flying time is approximately eight hours with flights being operated by PAL's brand new Airbus A330-300 aircraft. "Aside from experiencing the brand new Airbus A330-300, passengers will also get to enjoy our specially-prepared in-flight cuisine, including halal meals, which will be made available upon request," said Ang.

The new flights to Dubai is part of an on-going international expansion aimed at making Philippine Airlines a truly global airline for Filipinos. Dubai will be the second destination in the United Arab Emirates for PAL Group after Abu Dhabi. The maiden flight to Dubai comes just two days after Philippine Airlines relaunched service to Europe with a direct flight to London Heathrow. The PAL Group now offers a total of 10 weekly flights to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the two main gateways of the United Arab Emirates.

This is not the first time that Dubai has been served by Philippine Airlines. The carrier first served Dubai thirty-one years ago in 1982 as a transit stop between Manila and Europe. It later became another transit stop between Manila and Saudi Arabia.

Dubai is home to 450,000 Filipino expatriates and a number of popular tourist attractions including the world's tallest skyscraper, the largest shopping mall, and the largest man-made island. It is also considered the financial hub of the Middle East.
