Mayor Shot Dead at NAIA Terminal 3

Mayor Ukol Talumpa, the Mayor of Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur was shot dead just before noon on Friday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

At a press conference, NAIA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado advised that Mayor Talumpa had been declared dead on arrival at the Philippine Air Force General Hospital. An additional four people were injured in the incident including members of the Mayor's family and security escorts. It remains unclear if there were additional injuries or fatalities in the incident.

A report on GMA News quoted Honrado as declaring that Talumpa's wife was among the casualties. An additional two fatalities are yet to be identified by officials. Talumpa had just arrived at the airport from Cebu with his family when the shooting incident occurred at approximately 11:15am. It is believed that the gunman was reportedly waiting for the mayor at the loading bay just outside the airport building.

Honrado reported that he had received information that two suspects were riding a motorcycle in tandem while a report from dzBB indicated that the suspects were wearing police uniforms.
