Philippine Airlines Accepting Delivery of Fifteen Airbus Aircraft in 2014
Philippine Airlines will accept delivery of fifteen new aircraft this year from the Airbus factory in Toulouse, France as part of a multi-billion dollar expansion and re-fleeting program. The delivery of the new aircraft are expected to reduce operating costs while permitting the airline to expand capacity.

According to Ismael Gozon, PAL's Senior Vice President for Operations, the airline is expecting delivery of eight Airbus A321 aircraft and seven Airbus A330 aircraft before the end of 2014. The aircraft are being used to replace older fuel inefficient aircraft as well as for expansion on new routes.
Philippine Airlines recently announced that it is considering launching new flights to Japan from Puerto Princesa and Davao but that the new routes are currently under study. Philippine Airlines also has intentions to expand its presence in Europe this year with the addition of another two possible destinations to complement its existing service to London's Heathrow Airport.
Meanwhile, the national flag carrier anxiously awaits an upgrade of the country's safety rating by the United States Federal Aviation Administration to Category 1 status, which will permit the carrier to launch new flights to other destinations in the United States while replacing fuel inefficient aircraft on existing routes. The Philippines has been under restrictions imposed by Category 2 status for the last six years.

ReplyDeleteClark route? I don't think so. Probably for some flights but international, especially those by PAL, no. Let's talk business here, marketing to be exact. Northern Luzon may have a large population but the demand won't suffice the traffic needed. The market has limited buying capability. Don't get me wrong there but not everyone in the North can afford it. Actually, even most here in Manila can't. It's not viable. Even with the proposed Disneyland? It ain't gonna work too.
ReplyDeleteDisneyland is a fairytale. Disneyland US answered this rumor almost 3 years ago. They said they have no plans of putting Disneyland in PH.
ReplyDeleteI agree.....CRK cannot sustain profitability for int'l flights. If it can, it's only a handful of flights.

PAL should focus on getting boeing jets now. Hope they get 787 dreamliners and 777x
ReplyDeleteI do get your point but this will depend if we'll get Category 1. You can't simply order aircraft and store them.
DeleteAll 20 Airbus A330-300 will be all-economy (premium+standard, 9 abreast 3-3-3) or some of them will have business class with 8 abreast with seating configuration of 2-4-2 for economy?
