Tigerair Philippines Launches Four New Routes

Cebu Pacific subsidiary, Tigerair Philippines recently launched four new routes just in time to serve the busy Christmas travel season. According to Leilani de Leon, Tigerair Philippines Chief for Legal and Corporate Affairs, the new routes will include two new flights from Manila to Davao and General Santos and two new flights from Cebu to Davao and Cagayan de Oro.

The Manila to Davao route will be flown on a daily basis, while the Manila to General Santos route will be served five times per week. Meanwhile, the Cebu to Davao and Cebu to Cagayan de Oro routes will be served two times per week. The new routes will utilize an additional Airbus A320 aircraft that the carrier is set to receive this December from its parent carrier, Cebu Pacific, which will bring the Tigerair Philippines fleet from four to five aircraft.

Tigerair Philippines is launching the new routes in an effort to serve the needs of travellers that frequently travel to the key hubs in Mindanao. The maiden flights from Manila to Davao and General Santos are set to launch on November 28, while the maiden flights from Cebu to Davao and Cagayan de Oro are expected to take off the following day on November 29.

With the addition of the new routes, Tigerair Philippines will expand its network coverage to more than 230 weekly flights serving 10 domestic destinations in the Philippines and 1 international destination. Cebu Pacific bought Tigerair Philippines from Tiger Airways of Singapore and a group of Filipino businessmen earlier this year in a transaction valued at $15 million. The acquisition created the largest network of flights from the Philippines to the Asia Pacific Region.
