Cebu Pacific Launches Agent Xpress Service

Cebu Pacific, the country's largest low-cost carrier, has designed and launched a new service to improve the passenger experience at the busy and congested Kalibo International Airport, gateway to Boracay Island. The new service known as Agent Xpress, enables roaming agents to check guests in with confirmed flight itineraries anywhere from four hours up to forty-five minutes prior to departure.

The roaming agents use tablets and approach guests queuing in the security or check-in line at the airport, verify their Cebu Pacific booking, name, and flight details, and then print their boarding passes on the spot. If passengers have no check-in bags, then they can proceed immediately to the departure gate. However, those with bags will need to proceed to baggage drop counters.

The new check-in service is available to passengers travelling individually or as part of a group for one-way travel or connecting flights to any Cebu Pacific destinations. The tablets enable agents to even verify travel documents on the spot for guests bound for international destinations. With the introduction of the new service, Cebu Pacific becomes the first carrier in south east Asia to deploy the roaming airport agents that have the ability to check in passengers.

Agent Xpress launched at Kalibo International Airport on August 25. However, it remains unclear when the service will be extended to other Cebu Pacific airports. "Agent Xpress can make the check-in process faster and more convenient for our guests, given space limitations in certain airports," said Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific Vice President of Marketing & Distribution. "We are studying the launch of Agent Xpress in other airports as well. Aside from the Agent Express service, guests can also check in online or using self-service kiosks. We want to make many options available, so guests are empowered to manage their travel time and experience."

In addition, Cebu Pacific recently launched a new transfer service at Kalibo International Airport that enables passengers arriving at Kalibo to be transferred directly to the guest's hotel or resort on Boracay Island. Passengers are able to book the service on the Cebu Pacific website, through call centers, ticket and sales offices, or on-board the flight.

Meanwhile, the airline also announced that it will increase frequencies between Manila and Cauayan City. Cebu Pacific will raise the number of flights between the two cities from three to four flights weekly. The additional flight will depart every Saturday from Manila at 9:35am, while the return flight leaves Cauayan at 11:30am.

The new Saturday flight complements the existing flight schedule that offers travel between the two cities every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. By adding the additional flight, the carrier is hoping to stimulate further demand for travel to the city and the areas surrounding it. "Travel time on our flights is approximately 55 minutes, allowing guests to maximize their weekends, business trips or vacations here," said Iyog.

  3. CEB is kuripot because the Philippine market is price sensitive. If Filipinos are willing to pay more for better service airlines like CEB and PAL would include meals, IFEs, more seat pitch etc. with their service. But no, Filipinos want cheap fares resulting in PAL becoming more like a LCC. Hawaiian Airlines cancelled their Honolulu to Manila flight because they lost money despite planes being full. But Hawaiian's Japan and Korea flights made money because Japanese and Koreans were willing to pay more for service. So kuripot passengers results in kuripot airlines.
