A Photo Tour of The Improved NAIA Terminal 3
Nearly four months after its completion, Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport is busier than ever. After being rehabilitated for full operation by Japan based Takenaka Corporation, NAIA Terminal 3 is now host to a number of foreign carriers including Singapore Airlines, Delta Airlines, Cathay Pacific, All Nippon Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and Emirates.
Planning and preparation for the transfer of the foreign carriers to the 63.5 hectare terminal took nearly a year. Prior to this year, NAIA Terminal 3 had primarily been serving domestic flights and international services operated by Cebu Pacific. When Terminal 3 opened in 2008, it had only been operating at 52 percent of its designed capacity.
With the recent changes, it is without a doubt that Terminal 3 is by far the best facility in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport complex. The atmosphere that is reminiscent of a shopping mall is now comparable to other airports in the region and should bring greater satisfaction and comfort to local and foreign travellers. Perhaps there may indeed be hope for NAIA after all....

According to representatives of the foreign carriers, it is a much better operating environment for passengers and staff compared to their previous home at NAIA Terminal 1, which has long been rated one of the world's worst airports.

"This is a much better environment," said Steven Crowdey, Delta Airlines' Director for Australia, Micronesia, and the Philippines. "Look at the passengers' smiles. They all look positive. This represents a very significant investment on our part. It was not easy and it took a lot of work, but it's something that we want to do for our customers."

The monoblock chairs of Chow Time and Grand Kitchen should go. Or better yet, just axe these 2 carinderias.
ReplyDeleteHave they upgraded the customs area with X-ray machines for arriving pax? I remember when I used it via NH as d lone foreign airline, it was non-existent...
ReplyDeleteA few things you missed on your visit -
ReplyDelete*Sunday mob scene in the arrivals area as people stand in immigration queues similar to terminal 1.
*Awaiting Friends and Relatives forced to sit on the floor because the arrivals area lacks enough seating.
*The sad Star Alliance lounge in the middle of the boarding area
*People running across the access road,(risking their lives and causing traffic) because no one thought of putting a Jeepney stop nearby for the many that need transport to the terminal.
*Lack of decent signage or traffic control leading up to the terminal.
Other than that - all good!

You remind me of those people rallying like the LFS, ANAKPAWIS or KMU, puro reklamo, for them wala ng nagawang tama puro sila pansin like you, puro ka satsat.
DeleteI was there last November and I was disappointed how they claim it's been renovated. The temperature inside the terminal felt like 30c. I find it too dimmed and unwelcoming. There were too many airport personnel who I find irrelevant clutter. Passengers looked desperate seating on the floors everywhere. Really not a pleasant sight.
ReplyDeleteWhile there are more food establishments, some should have not considered putting up a branch inside rhe terminal. Looks like a cheap mall and very mediocre. Again, it was painfully hot inside. The VS shop looks like a low class store. Some are just plain carinderia looking.
The pre-departure area was also packed. No room to seat on. Some seats have obvious flaws. Looked like there were shot by machine guns. Really pathetic!
In conclusion, I still question what kind of governance do we still have now. A basic infrastructure cannot be given utmost importance. For me, this is unacceptable. We Filipinos deserve better than this.
Still unappealing. The elevators and escalators to the shopping and restaurant area are not working. Passengers carry their heavy luggage going up and down the stairs.
ReplyDeleteI still think the airport officials are not doing their job well. Accepting the current state of NAIA 3 is like settling in for mediocrity.
Do terminal 3 sells "pasalubong ice cream"?
