Cebu Pacific Transfers ATR Flights to NAIA Terminal 4, Cebgo Moves to Terminal 3

Cebu Pacific, the nation's largest carrier, has announced that all of the company's ATR turbo-prop flights will be transferring to Terminal 4 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport beginning on August 15. The changes will affect passengers travelling from Manila to Caticlan, Busuanga, Laoag, and Naga City.

According to the budget carrier, the decision to transfer flights comes as part of the Manila International Airport Authority's directive to maximize runway space at the congested airport. "Cebu Pacific fully supports this government effort to improve air traffic conditions in Manila," said the airline in a statement.

With the transfer of turbo-prop flights to Terminal 4, flights of Cebu Pacific's affiliate, Cebgo, will now transfer to NAIA Terminal 3 on August 15. This will affect passengers of Cebgo, formerly known as Tigerair Philippines, bound for Bacolod, Butuan, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Roxas, Tacloban, and Tagbilaran. 

In addition to the permanent changes noted above, a select number of Cebu Pacific flights will be transferred from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4:

• 5J 337/338 Manila-Kalibo-Manila
• 5J 345/346 Manila-Kalibo-Manila
• 5J 557/556 Manila-Cebu-Manila (Wednesdays and Saturdays)
• 5J 557 Manila-Cebu (August 24 only)
• 5J 556 Cebu-Manila (September 10 only)
• 5J 579 Manila-Cebu (October 3 only)

Although flight times remain the same, Cebu Pacific is advising all of its Manila departing passengers to reconfirm in advance the terminal that their respective flights will depart from. In the first four months of 2015, Cebu Pacific Group carried 5.97 million passengers, representing an 11.1 percent increase over the previous year.

The nation's largest budget carrier is aiming to carry 18 million passengers in 2015, representing a 1.1 million passenger increase from the 16.9 million passengers carried in 2014. In order to achieve this goal, Cebu Pacific Group has increased the number of aircraft in its fleet to 55 and increased capacity by 15.7 percent with an increase in the number of flights by 12.4 percent.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific recently placed a $673 million order with European aircraft manufacturer ATR for the purchase of sixteen ATR 72-600 aircraft with an option for ten additional aircraft. The order instantly doubles the size of Cebu Pacific's turbo-prop fleet as the budget carrier attempts to meet growing demand for inter-island service in the Philippines.

When the new aircraft begin arriving in the third quarter of 2016, they will replace Cebu Pacific's existing fleet of ATR 72-500 aircraft. The new aircraft feature ATR's high-density Armonia cabin, which will increase the number of seats on board the aircraft from 72 to 78 seats. Cebu Pacific currently enjoys a dominant position in the Philippine domestic market with a 60 percent marketshare.
