SkyJet Appoints New CEO

SkyJet Airlines announced the appointment of Philippine aviation veteran Patrick Tan as its new Chief Executive Officer last month. The move comes as the airline seeks to expand operations internationally and domestically.

Tan's extensive aviation career included past executive posts as President & CEO of Tiger Airways Philippines and Seair International. He was directly responsible for growing Seair's annual revenues from P200 million to P4 billion.

Patrick Tan will succeed Dino Reyes Chua, who assumed the role of President in 2014. Chua led a group of investors that took over the airline in 2013 and relaunched SkyJet as Manila's first boutique airline.

SkyJet Airlines now operates a fleet of 80 and 92-seat British Aerospace 146 aircraft that carries passengers from Manila to Siargao, Coron, and Batanes. Previously, the airline operated flights to Caticlan.

Although Tan will be focused on building new markets, he will also need to navigate stormy skies as the airline battles with the Bureau of Customs over the seizure of a P583-million aircraft due to alleged tax fraud amounting to approximately P90 million. The airline is currently appealing the seizure that occurred in March 2017.

Tan will also concentrate on growing the SkyJet brand, a challenging endeavour for a carrier that has had a turbulent history of accidents in recent months. In the first half of 2018, the airline suffered two accidents involving its aircraft that overshot runways in Coron and Siargao.

In February 2018, a SkyJet aircraft overshot the runway at Sayak Airport in Siargao. All 73 passengers and crew disembarked the aircraft unharmed. Most recently, a SkyJet flight overshot the runway in Coron, Palawan on June 8, 2018 with eighty passengers on board. All passengers disembarked the aircraft without incident.

I have been making a follow-up with your customer service hotline and sent several emails then no response at all, I was told that it will take 30 to 60 business days for the refund process but it is already January 2019 they suppose to return the money back on the month of December 2018, To all please be aware of this airline company it seems like a bogus after they notify you the cancelled flight they never response or notify you about the refund, until now I'm waiting the refund. I do not have plan too to travel by booking this airline, to the public be aware to this company. I know I am not the only passenger who still waiting to the refund, hoping that the government of the Philippines discipline this company for their actions and give the penalty to this SKYJET Airlines Management so it won't happen and victimized other tourist again. To the president of the Philippines kindly please have an action to this corrupt company. Thank you
