  3. HI, I travelled Mabuhay (Business) class with Air Philippines in December 2013 from Hong Kong to Manila

The flight was fantastic, and the service on board was 2nd to none, everything was perfect in the air.

However, I had to purchase my ticket again before I was allowed to fly as Air Philippines insist i have the Credit Card which was used to book the flight (6 months proir) which I did not have.

I reluctantly paid and have now been waiting 5 months for a refund.
I have never eperienced such poor service with any company, its such a shame that the service on the ground is so poor when the service in the air is amazing.

I would never fly Air Philippines again purely beacuse their customer support is so crap - never again.

When did you travel? (Month & Year): 2013
How was your overall experience? Terrible
How was the value for money? Satisfactory
Was your seat comfortable? No, the economy class seating is too small. I'm a big person.
How was the staff service? Satisfactory
Did you enjoy the meals or snacks? No.
How was the in-flight entertainment? IFE unit is broken.
Would you fly with this airline again? No. They have a monopoly on direct flights to the Philippines from SF so you don't really have a choice.

My question is did PAL change his business strategy from Legacy to Budget Airlines in terms of Services? Not good experience, with the price of USD 531.00 one way, its not cheap and seat are very small. The A330 has no J Class, with few seats for Premium Economy & the rest are Economy seats. Cabin Crew are not train to handle Passengers needs. How come a most essential during the flight to avoid dehydration which is WATER are running out Mid-Flight? Cabin crew served the meal after 1 and 1/2 hour after take off and provide a glass of juice with small can of water. Then, after 1 hour, cabin crew came to collect the used tray. Passenger in mid section asking for a water then after 2 hours non of the water came and when we approach cabin crew, she said that we are running out of water with a sarcastic answer for all the passengers asking for it. them I asked for Orange Juice but nothing came again, then, I asked for a coffee but again nothing came until we landed. After we arrived in RUH while waiting for our Car Lift, many of passengers chatting about their different experiences and the way PAL crew treated them. Definitely, that is my last flight using PAL. The Filipinos are well known for their hospitality but in PAL as well as their cabin crew, they are destroying this traits.

  8. They lost my bag and have not been able to find it, despite the fact that I had a direct flight and it's been 48 hours now.

  9. The "Seamless Experience" is anything but that. From Vancouver, BC, Canada my wife and I went to visit Iloilo City last August 2015. When we arrived in PAL, Terminal 2, Manila we went to pick up our baggages at the carousel downstairs. There were so many unclaimed boxes in the carousel area. We were told to buy a "pre-paid baggage allowance" coupon/ticket because from abroad 1 passenger is allowed 2 X 50 lbs suitcases/boxes + 1 hand carry of 15 lbs and a computer/ladies bag. The domestic ticket only allows a passenger for 1 - 20 kg box baggage. We arrived at 8:45 p.m. or 2045 hrs so the PAL counters were closed upstairs until the next working day. We waited outside in the August heat, tired and sweaty....
Our flight to Iloilo City was on 4:30 a.m. or 0430 hrs so we waited for the PAL counters to open. We learned that we will now be handled by PAL Express a subsidiary of PAL International that brought us to Manila. PAL Express charged us P3,800 for the extra 50 lb box we have brought from Vancouver. We were not able to buy the "pre-paid baggage allowance" and paid the freight for the 20 kg at P190/kg. When we went home we only have 1 baggage each. That is another frustrating story.
For International passengers proceeding domestic north or south of Manila International be sure to claim your baggages and check them in yourself in the domestic counter even if you have to pay through the nose for your extra baggage. You don't want to arrive in Davao City waiting for 2 hours at the carousel for your baggages that are still in Terminal 2.
You will not escape this twilight zonal episode as all Philippine domestic flights are handled by PAL Express (even if you took other international airline from abroad, aside from PAL International like JAL or Cathay).
The TRIP BACK...Our flight PR 116 was scheduled to depart at 7:00 p.m. or 1900 hrs from PAL T2, Manila to Vancouver International. At 6:00 p.m. Mr Boss Short Hogg from PAL announced there will be a document check of all passengers for Vancouver, Canada. We boarded at 6:45 while the document check was still going on. Our plane departed Terminal 2 at 8:00 p.m., one hour LATE of the schedule.
When we returned to Vancouver we only have 1 baggage each. PAL International have fuel savings from us but we never got any credit for these. We checked in early so our baggages were probably loaded first. When we arrived in Vancouver, BC, Canada our baggages were the last to be unloaded because we waited for 2 hours for our baggages at the carousel. Why would the airline punish passengers who checked in early by loading their baggages in the bowels of the plane and unload them last ???? Tired but glad to be back from the orient zone.
That is the "Seamless Experience" that PAL International is peddling here in North America. Instead it is an experience that taxes your patience after you have flown for 14 hours, tired, sweaty and anxious to arrive at your destination.

  11. Today (9th of December 2015) PAL PR720 12.45 from Terminal 2 MNL to LHR, took off and soon returned to MNL due to a "technical reason". The same reason delayed it's initial take off.
$600 USD economy fair one way (with little tax) seems expensive for such an old and potentially dangerous aircraft.
Apparently the A343 (probably one of the old leased ones from Iberia) had a problem with a wing...
    Thank God everyone was safe.

I Flew with my Girlfriend and we were given nice seats near the bulkhead. I always like flying with Philippine Airlines because of the good service and they never treat people like cattle. They used the new Airbus A321 NEO with the winglets. Overall great experience flying with them. Would love though if they put an entertainment system in the economy class

  13. Travelled with them many times before, various routes.
Manila to Vancouver, delayed by inefficiency of the airline by over an hour. Staff unconcerned by questions from passengers about ongoing connecting flights.

Bohol to Manila - Delayed around 8 hours. One cold mean offered (meant to be hot). No drinks, no air conditioning, all other airlines came and went. The restaurant was closed in our hotel by the time we arrived.

Manila to GenSan - operated like a flying local bus. Old ladies doing their knitting, others brought their shop on the plane in several carrier bags.

Intended flights Heathrow to Manila return plus Manila to CDO all cancelled by PAL in May 2020, we are still waiting (Nov 2021) for our refund.

On board entertainment on international flights is sub standard
International food options not good, barely acceptable.

When things go wrong with PAL, there is zero customer service, in some cases, not even the legal requirements.

My advice, if you must use them, pay on a credit card to add some protection and or get very good travel insurance.
