The airline plans to operate service to Miri four times each week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays aboard their fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. Introductory promotional fares begin at just P460 all-in for the one-way flight from Manila to Miri.

"AirAsia Zest is pleased to announce that we are the first and only airline servicing the Manila to Miri route, giving our passengers and overseas Filipino workers access to this majestic city," said Joy Caneba, Chief Operating Officer for AirAsia Zest. "AirAsia Zest's brand of air travel is characterized by efficiency and good service and we are all geared up to welcome our guest to this new route on December 7, when we commence operations."

Known for its rainforests and limestone formations, Miri is the birthplace of Malaysia's petroleum industry. As the second largest city in Eastern Malaysia, it is a small cosmopolitan centre that is home to a number of expatriate workers employed by multinational oil and gas companies head-quartered in Miri. Situated in the heart of the island of Borneo close to the border of Brunei, tourists can enjoy a number of historical landmarks and many of Miri's remarkable diving spots which are just a short boat ride from the city. Divers will enjoy beautiful corals and reefs as they admire an array of fishes including stingrays and parrot fish to name a few.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Zest also announced that it would be increasing flight frequency to another popular Malaysian destination. Service between Manila and Kota Kinabalu will increase from four flights weekly to daily service beginning on December 1.

The airline is preparing for a major roll out of new flights next month as it establishes its second major hub in Cebu with new domestic flights to Puerto Princesa, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro beginning on November 15. A new international route to Kuala Lumpur will begin on December 1 connecting Cebuanos to AirAsia's extensive network from Kuala Lumpur of more than 85 destinations throughout Asean, China, Australia, and India.

Marianne Hontiveros, CEO of AirAsia Philippines, added that flights between Clark and Hong Kong would temporarily resume for the busy Christmas season.
