"This is a welcome development not only for Clark, but for the rest of the country to attract more Chinese tourists," said Victor Luciano, President of Clark International Airport Corporation. He added that the new flights would help to fuel the Philippine tourism campaign and offer travellers more options from Clark International Airport.

The Department of Tourism continues to pursue its ambitious goal of 10 million tourists by 2016. Meanwhile, Clark International Airport continues its expansion as work continues on the rehabilitation of its existing passenger terminal that is expected to be completed by February 2014. The government is also evaluating the possibility of constructing a low-cost carrier terminal at Clark. Luciano expects to see more carriers arrive in 2014 once the terminal rehabilitation is complete.

Clark International Airport presently offers service to a number of international destinations including Dubai, Doha, Incheon, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Singapore. Tigerair Philippines recently announced that it is planning to mount flights from Clark to Osaka and Tokyo later this year.
