"We're very proud to be soon launching Cebu-Tandag flights, as part of our continuous commitment to enable everyJuan to fly," said Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific VP for Marketing and Distribution. "We hope that with direct air services to Tandag, we can further stimulate travel and trade to Surigao del Sur, for the benefit of the local economy."

Tandag is the capital city of the province of Surigao del Sur. According to the Philippine Department of Tourism, the province's tourist arrivals reached nearly 45,000 in 2013. Tandag is the gateway to a number of tourist attractions including the Britania Group of Islands, Cagwait Beach, Tinuy-an Falls, and the Enchanted River. Tourists may also visit the popular surfing spot of Lanuza.

The new route will be operated using a 72-seat ATR aircraft. Flights will depart Cebu at 11:10am, arriving in Tandag at 12:15pm. The return flight will depart at 12:35pm, arriving back in Cebu at 1:40pm. The service will operate three times per week every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

"We continue to develop our inter-island network, so an hour and five minute flight can replace longer trips through ferries and buses," said Iyog. "This service complements our existing Surigao, Siargao, Butuan services in the Caraga region of Mindanao." The airline officially launched the route by introducing a Php1 seat sale promo for travel up until December 15, 2014.
