All Nippon Airways Upgrades Manila Flights to Boeing 787

All Nippon Airways, Japan's largest airline by passenger traffic, upgraded its flights between Tokyo and Manila on October 25 to the modern Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. The Japanese carrier will now begin flying the Boeing 787 on both of its daily flights from Manila to Tokyo's Narita and Haneda Airports.

Although ANA has only committed to the Boeing 787-8 aircraft servicing Manila until December 18, it is believed that more long-term changes are expected and that the Boeing 787 will become a permanent fixture between Manila and Tokyo. Meanwhile, the latest schedules indicate that the Boeing 767 is expected to return to the route on December 19.

All Nippon Airways currently operates two daily flights out of Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila. One flight operates to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, while a secondary flight operates to Tokyo Narita Airport.

In addition to the Boeing 787 upgrade, ANA will be temporarily swapping out the Boeing 787 on select flights between Manila and Tokyo Narita from December 1 to 18 to the larger Boeing 777-200ER aircraft to accommodate increased demand during the peak Christmas season.

All Nippon Airways has been serving the Philippines for more than four years. It started with daily service between Manila and Tokyo Narita, before the second service to Tokyo Haneda was added in 2014.

Last year, Philippine Airlines entered into a commercial agreement with All Nippon Airways. The commercial partnership covered the operation of code-share flights and collaboration with frequent flyer programs.
